A DRIVING expert has urged Brits to snap up a luxury Mercedes for just £1,800 claiming 'cheap is where its at right now.'
Lee, who runs YouTube channel Car UK, has revealed that many prestige motors are now being sold at auction for less than £5,000.
The expert said that Mercedes-Benz, Jaguars and Land Rovers were all going for a few thousands pound due to market conditions.
He said: "If you haven’t worked it out already, cheap is where it’s at right now on the sale floors.
“I saw today some Jaguars, Land Rovers, Mercedes-Benz, even some general everyday stuff really struggling to get over the [reserve] cap.
"Really, anything over the £5,000 mark at the moment is just not getting anywhere near its book [average retail] price.”
Lee explained that most auctions are dominated by trade buyers looking for a bargain. That means they need to buy at the lowest possible price point.
He said that most trade buyers look for Ford Fiestas and Vauxhall Corsas that can be snapped up cheap.
And this pulls down the price of prestige motors such as Audi and Jags, which are often sold for less than their book value.
Veteran car salesman Ray Shefska often providers customers with tips about to how to buy a car without being ripped off.

Ray, who sold motors for 43 years, said: "I'm here today...to help educate and inform you to become an empowered shopper as to how to best save money when you're trying to buy your next car."
First of all, Ray urged drivers to always check the out-the-door price (OTD) of the car they're trying to buy.
This is the price of the car combined with any taxes or other fees you need to pay, such as VAT.
Knowing the OTD allows you to assess the deal you are being offered without being stung by extra costs and to better compare the headline figure between multiple dealerships.
