JEREMY Clarkson has sparked a surge in demand for a sports car used in the Grand Tour after the star admitted he "bought one immediately."

The presenter roared across the Sahara in a Jaguar F-Type in his latest Grand Tour TV special.

Clarkson was so impressed with the motor than on his return to the UK he went out and bought one.

For the special across the Sahara Jeremy opted for a supercharged Jaguar F-Type V6.

May plumped for a Maserati GranCabrio and Hammond chose an Aston Martin DB9 Volante.

The star said :“The Jaguar F-Type V6 Supercharged VS. Well put it like this: it was so impressive, I came home and bought one immediately.

"And I don't think Hammond bought an Aston Martin afterwards. The other two made unwise choices, as usual.”

Now experts have noticed a spike in interest in the F-Type following Clarkson's public praise for the motor.

Sam Sheehan, motoring editor at said: “The Jaguar F-Type, in particular, has made a remarkable impression, and has even stolen the heart of presenter Jeremy Clarkson, who drives the vehicle on the show.

“Clarkson loved driving the F-Type so much that he even bought a supercharged V6 model as soon as he got home from Mauritania.

“Looking at daily searches on cinch’s website, we noticed a spike in interest for the Jaguar F-Type on Saturday, February 17,
registering an impressive 63 percent increase in searches for the model compared to the previous weekend.

“Saturday’s figure was also the biggest number of daily searches for the F-Type since the start of the month.

“Once again, this shows that cultural moments can have a significant impact on consumer behaviour – especially when looking for their next car.

“In the same way that pink cars witnessed a surge in searches after the release of the Barbie movie in 2023, we can expect the Jaguar F-Type to be an increasingly sought-after model in the weeks to come.”

It comes after the presenting trio shockingly announced that they would leave the Grand Tour after the current run of specials, making the Mauritania trip, which has been dubbed Sand Job, their penultimate adventure.

Bosses at Amazon are understood to be considering continuing the show, potentially under a different format, and this is something the current hosts are said to be comfortable with.

They will each continue with their separate projects in the form of the Clarkson's Farm and May's Our Man In... series for Amazon, as well as Hammond's Smallest Cog restoration garage which itself features on a Discovery Plus show.

However, James May did hint at potential future collaborations back in January when he gave his verdict on the prospect of the trio filming together again.
