A PETROLHEAD who spent £2,000 transforming a car into a "helicopter" has had it seized by police.

Ishwar Deen, from Uttar Pradesh, India, was left devastated after working "day and night" on the unique motor.

A video posted to X revealed the bizarre fruits of his labours.

Mr Deen had taken a white Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and welded a small rotor blade onto the roof.

In addition, he stripped off the boot and replaced it with an elongated "boom" - the tail of a helicopter.

All in all the work cost him over £2,000 (250,000 rupees).

The blade wasn't powered and, as you might imagine, the car couldn't actually fly but Mr Deen said that the "car copter" was his dream ride.

Unfortunately for him, while on his way to a garage to carry out further work he was stopped by cops and had the whacky motor confiscated.

Local police said that he had modified the vehicle without a permit required under the nation's Motor Vehicles Act

He has now been told he will only be allowed it back if the helicopter parts are removed, as well as being handed an £18 (20,000 rupee) fine.

However, the disgruntled inventor hit back at the penalty, claiming he only made it to hire out for special events and never intended to drive it regularly.

He told the ANI news agency: "It was only meant to be used during weddings and will not ply on the roads otherwise.

"I had transformed the car to use it for booking during the wedding seasons so that our family will be able to earn some extra money."

Local police official Vishal Pandey said: "Yesterday, a modified car was seized.

"Due to the enforcement of the Model code of Conduct, police have been conducting vehicle checks.

"This modified car was intercepted by traffic police during one such inspection."

It comes after the owners of England's oldest petrol station hit back at the ex-Top Gear star who accused them of "destroying" it.
