Tesla driver blasted as ‘smug’ as hidden message in number plate is spotted on electric car
A TESLA driver has been blasted as "smug" as a hidden message on an electric car's number plate has been spotted.
The Model S was spotted in Adelaide, South Australia, stopped at lights - with one shocked motorist snapping a picture and sharing it on Facebook.
The number plate said "RIP ICE", with the driver saying it was "quite appropriate rego for an EV".
ICE stands for 'Internal Combustion Engine', the technical name for the kind of motor used in most of the worlds cars, lorries, and motorbikes.
The reported that commenters on the post were split about whether they thought it was a good number plate or not.
One fan wrote on the post: "'Sales are decreasing for ICE vehicles which will make them RIP."

Another posted: "'Wow!!! That is the best number plate. Love it."
But some didn't like the number plate as much and thought it was "lame".
While a third said: "'Yeah, I prefer not to poke the bear. Too many idiots out there that hate EVs. Sadly these plates just guarantee that your car will get keyed."
Another posted: "I hate those stupid plates. I drive an EV but don’t need to drive around making smug statements. Lame."
Sales of EVs are soaring in the UK a fifth of new vehicles in Britain set to be electric this year.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said the total had jumped from 674,000 at the end of 2022 and now stands at 1,001,677.
It attributes the rise mainly to business and fleets.
The Tesla Model Y is most popular, with almost 39,000 sold.
Meanwhile Dacia have announced the UK's cheapest EV, coming in at nearly half the price of its nearest rival.
The hotly anticipated Dacia Spring is set to retail from from £14,995, making it one of the most competitive EVs on the market.
The Spring EV will be an astonishing £12,000 cheaper than Britain's
current cheapest EV, the MG4.
Bosses at Dacia have said the new car's price point will "rewrite the EV rulebook."
