Including a name-change that can save you almost £3,000

EXPERTS have revealed five of the best used car deals you can snap up for under £11,000 following a major price drop.

All of the models are less than a decade old and have an average mileage under 50,000.

The team at leading automotive marketplace shared their recommendations exclusively with SunMotors, allowing Brits to save thousands on their next purchase.

They compared the average listing prices for various models, including measuring how heavily they have depreciated from this time last year.

The research found that all the cars on the list had between £2,000 and £4,000 wiped of their value between May 2023 and May 2024.

This significant price drop has seen a number of high-end vehicles drop below £12,000, giving drivers far more bang for their buck on the second-hand market.

Chris Knapman, CarGurus' editorial director, said: "Timing a used car purchase to maximise value for money can be tricky, particularly in recent years where limited inventory has led to higher prices.

"However, the market is returning to more stable levels, and with that change, there are some great value models to look out for."

The Kadjar only enjoyed a limited production run from 2015 to 2022, making the 2017 version one of the newer models available.

With an average mileage of under 50,000, used examples often still have plenty of life left in them.

The model also benefits from sharing a platform with the ever-popular and reliable Nissan Qashqai, while also including Renault's R Link 2 software, including the handy lane departure warning and voice control systems.

Like the Kadjar, the 2016 V40 comes from the latter part of the model's production, with the hatchback discontinued in 2019.

It originally used the same EcoBoost inline-four engine that was developed for the best-selling Ford Fiesta in the mid-noughties.

However, by 2016, Volvo fitted its own engines and added the IntelliSafe collision avoidance safety system.

That model year also saw the car undergo a facelift, with the addition of "Thor's hammer" headlights, a sleeker bonnet and a new pattern on the seats.

Sitting in Vauxhall's compact SUV range, the Crossland X offers plenty of space and makes an ideal family car.

The 2018 version comes with a stunningly low average mileage of under 35,000 so they're practically new at almost half the price of the 2024 model.

It will be a pre-facelift version but the cosmetic differences are fairly hard to spot.

The Mondeo has long been a fan-favourite model in Britain dating back decades.

Indeed, the concept of Mondeo Man was dreamt up by Tony Blair's team in the 1990s as a shorthand for the average man on the street.

The model was axed in the UK in 2022, but there are plenty of 2016 versions floating around for very reasonable prices.

Indeed, it has seen one of the largest depreciations on the list at an average of £3,646.83.

While your money will only stretch to a slightly higher-mileage example, the Mondeo is plenty reliable and can still be good for several years above the 100,000 mark.

What's in a name?

Well, in the case of the Mokka X, about £3,000 is the answer.

According to CarGurus' data, the SUV will set you back around £10,000 - well within budget.

That's a staggering saving compared to the £12,933 average for the Mokka (without the X) from the same year, despite the two motors being virtually identical.

In fact, the Mokka X has a built-in satnav and 8" touchscreen as standard, despite its lower price.
