How £2 goo from Screwfix can transform car scratches forever & make your interior look new in just minutes
A MECHANIC has revealed how a £2 goo from Screwfix can "permanently" fix your scratched car seats in just minutes.
The motors whizz showed motorists how to repair wear and tear from home with minimal effort.
The expert, who goes by the name Sweet Project Cars, uses his YouTube channel to share tips and tricks for "the DIYer" petrolhead.
In a viral video, he revealed how to tackle vinyl or leather seats which had suffered scratches, cracks or even tears.
Sweet said: "Today we're talking about redoing your seats, making them look brand new again.
"This is an absolutely permanent fix.
"You do not have to take your seats out to do it.
"This seat is really dirty, the key for us is it's got to be really really clean."
On that note, the process starts by thoroughly wiping down the area you want to repair with an antibacterial spray, ideally alcohol spray, and a clean soft cloth.
Once it is spotless, all you need is a tube of adhesive sealant and a stiff piece of card.
In a cool room, squeeze out a good amount of the sealant onto any wear spots or cracks.
Then, use the edge of the card to spread it in a decently thick layer over the affected areas.
Once the sealant dries and becomes tacky, run your thumb over it to smooth down the surface.
Next, you need to get hold of a scrap of leather or vinyl of the same type as the seat - these can be purchased online and some companies even offer them for free.
Press this gently onto the sealant and then take it back off - repeat a few times to give the new surface the leather texture.
Finally, pick up a spray can of paint in the colour you need (available for as little as £2 online) and apply three light coats then leave to dry for around half an hour.
Between the spray paint, leather and Screwfix sealant, the total bill comes to about £5.
And the results are remarkable, with Sweet's seat looking virtually identical to a brand new version by the end.
