We converted a Ford Transit van into a tiny home on wheels that’s fully off grid – now we travel all over the world
But fans said they had got one thing wrong
A COUPLE have converted a Ford Transit van into a tiny home on wheels that is fully off grid and travel all over the world.
South Africans Leanne and Dan have shared their incredible motor conversion and revealed the changes they made to it.
Known on YouTube as The Buddymoon, the travel vlogging pair refurbished the kitchen, bedroom, and added space for a shower and bathroom in the van.
They bought the run down red Transit van in Scotland and then made changes, bringing in a 10L sink, new stove, a water pump and water boiler.
Leanne says: “You’ll immediately notice this van is fully hand-crafted with wooden counter tops, navy blue cupboards, and a grey undertone that makes it nice and cosy.”
She says the van has a nice height and the clip shows Leanne doesn’t need to crouch at all despite being 175cm.
“The height of this van makes it feel so much more open,” she says.
But the van is able to go off grid as it has solar panels on the roof.
Dan says: “On top of the roof we have two 100w solar panels that are busy charging our batteries.”
The batteries are storied underneath the front seats and when fully charged can give the van 230 hours worth of energy.
Videos now show the pair with the van in Spain, France, Belgium, and Portugal.
But while in Morocco they encountered issues with the van’s engine.
They said: “The warning light on our dashboard came on again, but this time, the engine was making a ‘shhhhhh’ sound and is clearly something we had to get fixed as soon as possible.
“We luckily had kind Moroccan’s help us to find mechanics and fix the car but it did not come without tears.”
Fans of the pair said they had done an “amazing job” with the conversion, but there was one thing multiple people said they got wrong.
One said: “Hey guys you have done an amazing job with the van, it must be nice to have that feeling of home from home whilst you travel and somewhere that belongs to you, hotels are great but you can never beat your own personal space.”
Another wrote: “You guys did amazing job. Now let’s roll and show the world who is the best travel vloggers to the world. Love you guys! Enjoy and be safe.”
A third posted: “You really have a lovely, elegant and well planned van. Besides the fire extinguisher right next to the gas being a danger, I would also add a holder for the shower head in the van. Great job!”
It comes after one young traveller revealed how he converted a van and embarked on a travelling journey.
The innovative nomad, who’s YouTube handle is , walked his 1.32k subscribers through the conversion process.
One of his offered a full van tour where you are able to see the final product of Harry’s hard work.
The cobalt blue exterior has big raptor style grills which he was immediately drawn to.
