Watch scary moment ‘drug driver’ weaves through traffic in 100mph police chase on narrow road before it ends in disaster

The driver didn't even have insurance

THIS is the terrifying moment a "drug driver" was filmed weaving in traffic at 100mph during a police chase on a narrow road.

The dangerous motorist hurtled along the wrong side of the road and forced dozens of other cars to swerve violently into the grass verges.

In horror footage released by Devon and Cornwall Police, 31-year-old Louis Roser was seen fleeing from a patrol car in his white Audi.

Travelling along A-roads near St Austell, Cornwall, he pulled out into the wrong side of the road on a bend and accelerated away.

Cops gave chase, following the flash motor in a high-speed chase that lasted over four minutes.

In some of the most hair-raising moments Roser, who was driving without insurance, rides the centre line of the road at speeds of up to 100mph.

Oncoming traffic was forced to swerve out of his way at high speeds, while several collisions were narrowly avoided.

And Roser himself had a scary near miss when he veered off the carriageway and into the hedgerow along the verge.

He managed to regain control of the car and rejoin the road, still at a dangerous speed, before continuing the chase for a short time.

The pursuing police eventually managed to collar him following a 'tactical stop' after he brake-checked them coming off a roundabout.

The clip ended with the arresting officer approaching Roser's car with his taser raised.

A court later heard from police that Roser's eyes were completely red when they stopped him, which was believed to be due to drug use.

Roser, of Trewoon, Cornwall, apologised during a custody interview, calling his driving "appalling".

He admitted dangerous driving and failing to provide a sample upon arrest at Truro Crown Court.

Judge Simon Carr concluded that Roser was almost certainly under the influence at the time of the offence and took into account his record of previous convictions, including for motoring offences.

Sentencing Roser to 13 months in prison, Judge Carr said: "The fact nobody was killed or seriously injured was down to pure luck.

"You have an appalling record and have a complete disregard for society and its rules."

He was also slapped with a three-year driving ban.

Alison Hernandez, Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, said: "The actions of this driver were absolutely lethal and could easily have resulted in the death or serious injury of an innocent member of the public.

"The custodial sentence handed down to this offender is only right and I am pleased he will not be able to use our roads for at least the next three years.

"I’d like to praise the officers involved in this pursuit for their calm decisiveness during what must have been a very tense situation."
