Giant British car brand will slash over SIXTY dealerships in UK ahead of electric-only reinvention

They've already revealed a bold new logo as it enters a new, all-electric era

JAGUAR'S network of dealerships across the UK is set to shrink down to around 20 outlets.

The iconic British car maker is in the midst of a transition - switching its focus from being a luxury mass producer of cars to an EV-only specialist.

Jag has already unveiled its new-look logo, which has seen the much-loved 'roaring jaguar' symbol used on its cars for decades replaced with a fresh, bold design.

The marque recently released a colourful  to ring its new era which included the new logo, but failed to showcase any vehicles.

At the launch of Jaguar's new direction, the firm's managing director Rawdon Glover also revealed that their dealer network would shrink dramatically.

According to , Glover said: "We will have a significantly reduced footprint in the UK."

Glover then answered rumours that the brand will reduce its number of dealerships down to 20, having previously had around 80 across the UK, according to a report in 2023.

Glover said: "It will not be far off that number, which is a lot [fewer] than when I was running the national sales company.

"We have chosen to have these points on the basis of geographically, those were the most – if we looked at the customer base that we were going after – where the most wealth was.

"If you look at that from a demographic point of view, it takes you to a fairly logical sort of map in terms of the number of locations that you need."

Last year, Jaguar, who are part of the Jaguar Land Rover group that also sells Range Rover, Defender and Discovery, asked dealers to invest huge sums in the 'Arch concept' to house all brands.

Glover said there will be a "next generation of Arch" for its remaining car dealers, which would be a "relatively modest" investment would be more about how they are "portrayed inside".

The new, smaller network will be made up of partners who “are in the right location” while being “culturally aligned" to the brand.

He said: “We think they’re going to be excited about the Jaguar prospects, and we think they’re going to be able to give an elevated level of service.

“So that’s why we’ve chosen the partners. We could have said, right, we’ll just use one partner.

“But actually, you know, our biggest partner is Sytner, for example, and Sytner don’t have national coverage.

“The most important thing is we need to have national coverage so that basically led us to choose a selection from our existing retailer network.”

Car Dealer Magazine also added that Jaguar will run a brand store in London.

On this, Glover said: “We will have a brand store in London, which will effectively occupy the centre of London, and then we will have a store in the north and the south of London.”

For now, Jaguar have stopped selling new cars in the UK, with an all-new trio of electric cars set to be released.

JLR's first car to roll out will be a four-door all-electric GT built in Solihull, West Midlands.

Sun Motors have reached out to a JLR contact for a comment.

This comes as Ford were forced to slash the production numbers of its new electric car just one month after release.

The motoring giant has admitted the company is producing more of the vehicles than it's selling.
