Workers at BMW's Munich plant caused a full-scale assembly line shutdown after a work drug binge
FACTORY workers at BMW's Munich plant reportedly cost the company over £860,000 (1 million euros) after forcing a complete assembly line shutdown earlier this month.
According to the German publication 'Bild', and later reported by 'The Drive', two workers collapsed during their shift after allegedly taking drugs prior to starting work.
Both employees had allegedly smoked marijuana together in the change room before taking their place on the exhaust assembly area of the factory floor.
After the pair collapsed, fellow workers were forced to suspend the assembly line while they waited for emergency services to arrive and tend to their colleagues.
One of the individuals was reported to have had a high amount of alcohol in their system when they collapsed, while the other worker was said to also be under the influence of amphetamines.
While is is unclear whether the matter has been entirely resolved, Bild reported that one of the workers had been fired, while the other had been moved to another department.
