Explore incredible classic car junkyard with amazing motors forgotten by time – including Mustangs, GTOs and Corvettes

A rare 1970 Chevelle was found in the yard as well as a 'basically untouched' 1970 Camaro

A PETROLHEAD discovered a graveyard full of rusted muscle cars including Mustangs, GTOs and Corvettes.

Car enthusiast Ryan Brutt uncovered countless classics, including a 1967 Mustang GT fastback, on the site in Detroit, Michigan.

As well as stumbling across the Mustang, the car fanatic also found a 1970 Chevelle which was perched on top of a broken-down bus.

There was a four-door Pontiac Catalina and a Mustang SportsRoof from 1970 nestled in some weeds.

But the cherry on top of the cake was a 1969 Mach 1 Mustang, which Ryan said was one of his "all-time favourite cars".

It was also dumped on top of a bus for safe-saving purposes, but he decided to get a better look.

"It was even in the right colour. From afar it was a good-looking car, but up close it was bad, very bad," he wrote .

He said that the entire vehicle was "completely rusted out" and one of the doors had been left open for so long a tree had grown through it.

Just when they had entered the yard, the pair came across a 1967 GTO and a 1970 Corvette.

After popping the hood on the GTO, he came across two four-barrel carburettors in the "complete" car.

Cutting his losses, Ryan came across a Cougar and another GTO, which had a small-block Chevrolet engine under the hood.

There was also a 1970 Chevelle SS396, which surprised him due to the car's rarity.

He said: "This one had not had an easy life. It was pretty much a complete wreck but still wore the SS396 badges on the fenders with honor.

"You could still make out the SS stripes on the decklid," he added.

In the outdoor Aladin's Cave was a Malibu from 1970, which had an original cowl induction hood which was open.

One of the cars held a darker history and had been taken to the scrapyard after it was driven in a murder attempt.

Ryan was given a tour of the yard by a fellow car enthusiast who told him that the Coronet 500 was driven by a man who was trying to kill his girlfriend.

The sports car had been wrapped around a tree in the collision and the driver had been jailed for his crime.

Working his way back through the site, he came across a pair of "nearly complete" 1966 Mustang fastbacks next to each other.

On the other side of the section was the car the fellow enthusiast felt was the best on the site, a basically untouched 1970 1/2 Camaro Z28.

Looking under the hood, the pair found the original engine with nearly all its original components.

He described how "cool" it was to see another car, a 1967 Camaro SS convertible, had come from Berger Chevrolet, the famous Grand Rapids, Michigan supercar dealership.

The red car has a red interior and still has the "By Berger" emblem on the tail panel.

Ryan, who shares his knowledge on social media, has created a map where he pin points dumped vintage cars for other fans to marvel at.

He explained that finding a junkyard filled with old cars is getting more difficult, but he insisted that there are plenty dotted across America.
