Comparing the average retail price of various models in August 2024 to the 12 months prior, their top pick was the second generation Nissan Leaf - a somewhat unexciting EV that’s nonetheless got plenty to offer the average driver.

They focussed on the second generation model, highlighting its roomy cabin and range of 239 miles on a single charge as great selling points.

Better yet, now is a great time to pick up a used Leaf, with CarGurus claiming average examples sell for £10,702 - down an impressive £5,500 compared to 12 months earlier.

The average price for a second-hand E-Tron fell in 2024 by 34.5 percent and can be typically found for around £26,670.

The E-Tron is particularly known for its brilliant levels of standard equipment, which includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen, 'Virtual Cockpit' instruments, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system - on selected models.

It’s not just EVs that make up CarGurus list, as the Fiat 500X - available in either petrol, diesel or mild hybrid form - is a compact crossover with retro good looks that comes in at under £10,000; priced at around £9,500 in August 2024.

Other city cars that made the list include the Renault Zoe and Citroen C4, while more premium options such as the Porsche Taycan and Mercedes EQC can be found further down the top 10.

The all-electric Taycan, while still retailing at used car lots for around £64,991, offers some of the best in battery range, charging speeds, and on-board tech, even years later since its release.

Car Magazine tipped drivers to keep a keen eye on models with the ‘Performance Plus’ battery, which offers a range of 288 miles.
