Original Mini hides hi-tech interior – complete with GPS, keyless-go and USB connectivity
The classic Mini shape has been brought back to life with a stylish combination of Sixties design and 21st century gadgetry
AS any librarian will tell you, you should never judge a book by its cover - so why should cars be any different?
A special model Mini is giving new meaning to that phrase, resurrecting the classic 1960's body shape and adding a wealth of 21st century technology.
British coach building firm David Brown Automotive has engineered a small collection of original Minis, retro-fitted with the latest in modern car technology and re-energised with improved mechanics.
Dubbed the Mini Remastered range, the vehicles appear almost identical to the original two-door classic from the outside, but launch the British icon into the future once you step inside.
Each hand-built model will feature a completely new body, in-built infotainment and navigation system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a four-speaker sound system, keyless-go, USB connectivity and charging, as well as push-button start and remote central locking.

Produced at the company's Silverstone factory, engineers have also tweaked the original 1,275 cc engine to give it almost 90 bhp worth of power - and at just 700 kg it makes the perfect city runabout.
The only catch? Each Remastered Mini is expected to fetch around £100,000.
But for any major fan of the iconic British motor, it would be a small price to pay for the classic's revival.
The original Mini ceased production in 2000 after selling over five million vehicles across 41 years.
