Incredible Lamborghini claimed to be first EVER supercar with top speed of 174mph goes on sale for eye-watering sum
A CLASSIC motor, considered the world’s first ever supercar, has gone up for sale for a hefty sum.
The stunning Lamborghini Miura is regarded by petrolheads as one of the finest cars ever created, with its blend of class, style, and speed.
This particular example of the Italian speedster, which boasts only 33,000 miles on the clock, is up for sale for £1.8 million at an upcoming auction.
Auctioneers Bonhams said: "It showed the world what it took to be a supercar. Very few cars managed to change the course of automotive history the way the Miura did."
According to the listing, this example - the 37th Miura that rolled off the production line - was originally bought by American Ben Johnson, who used it to tour Europe before shipping it back to the US.
First built in 1967, the Miura P400, as it is known, was created by Ferruccio Lamborghini in an attempt to challenge Ferrari.

Named after Eduardo Miura, a Spanish breeder of fighting bulls, it was the fastest production car in the world when it debuted.
Its speed tops 174 mph, besting the Shelby Cobra - the record-holder at the time.
The car will be sold in Arizona on January 25.
The sale will not only include extensive restoration records but also several concours trophies and the car's original Italian licence plate.
