ANYONE that has tried to park in a busy airport car park before an important flight knows the stress it causes, but those stressful days may soon be a thing of the past, thanks to a clever new robot.

Paris-based company Stanley Robotics is promising to eliminate the pains of airport parking with their ingenious automatic valet invention.

The robot, known as "Stan", is able to collect vehicles from a designated drop-off area, then autonomously transport them to the nearest available car parking spot.

The intelligent system design allows for users to book in via the company's website or mobile app in advance, also storing flight information along with the booking to make vehicle pick up as convenient and on-time as possible on the driver's return.

Once the car has been left at a drop-off spot close to the airport, Stan slides under your car like a pallet jack, gently picking up the vehicle and relocating it to a mass parking lot, meaning you never even have to hand over your car keys.

All the driver has to to is drop off their vehicle at a designated location, check in on the touchscreen system, then take their keys and head for their flight

The electronic robot is advertised as being completely emission free and uses sensor technology to safely navigate through parking areas.

The robotics company said each unit is capable of processing up to 30,000 vehicles per year, with a single robot managing as many as 400 parking spaces at any one time.

Currently in operation at Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport, Stan is said to be the future of airport parking, significantly cutting costs by increasing the number of cars in a given lot by as much as 50 per cent.

After joining with The ADP Group to implement their service at the major Parisian airport, the company is hopeful of introducing the technology to major flight destinations around the globe.

Stanley Robotics recently released an animated video to reveal exactly how the automatic valet system works.
