Porsche unveils the 911 GT2 RS at E3 – its fastest model EVER and the cover car for Forza Motorsport 7

Most powerful Porsche ever revealed on stage in Los Angeles for launch of latest Forza Motorsport Xbox game

THE most powerful and extreme road-going Porsche 911 ever has been unveiled at the launch of Forza Motorsport 7.

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS will be the cover star of the upcoming Xbox One racing game revealed at the E3 gaming convention.

The 2018 model had previously been spotted in camouflage on test at the Nurburgring powered by a turbo engine capable of producing 700bhp.

But the uncovering at the Los Angeles video game show is the first official images of the car itself.

Track-spec bodywork like the big rear wing, front air intakes and flared wheel arches will improve downforce and help make the GT2 RS the most powerful Porsche ever.

While performance figures haven't been officially revealed just yet, expect 0-62mph in around 2.5 seconds and a top speed in excess of 205mph.

It's the first Porsche to use the GT2 name since the 997-based model seven years ago.

And the announcement that it's featuring in Forza suggest the complete reveal of the car by Porsche is just months away.

The reveal was an automotive first with cars normally revealed as video game stars via in-game renderings on screen rather than on stage.

The Porsche will be just one of some 700 models in Forza Motorsport 7 - up from 450 in Forza 6. It'll include the “largest assortment of Ferraris, Porsches and Lamborghinis ever".

There are 30 different locations in the game, too, with over 200 different configurations - confirmed are the Nurburgring and Dubai.

Forza will go on sale on October 3 for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC and later in the year for Xbox One X.
