Ford B-Max

YOU just can’t beat a sliding door on a car - so say hello to the Ford B-Max.

I am sure Ford won’t mind me saying that the B-Max is a practical family lugger.

But the star turn is the sliding door in the back. There is no B pillar so open the front and back doors and you have a massive space.

Young kids reckon it is pure class. My kids are a lot older and they still think it is pretty cool.

And mums and dads will love the fact that they make life easier in car parks and on tight streets.

But there is more to the B-Max than just the doors. It is actually a good car to drive, the handling is spot on and it is smooth.

The handling means it works just as well in tight town spaces as it does on country roads.

The excellent 1-litre EcoBoost petrol engine is good for 55mpg, 0-62mph in 13.2 seconds and a top speed of 109mph.

If you opt for a B-Max then the chances are you will spend a lot of time in there with your family. It is pleasant and hard-wearing with loads of space for five, or bags if you fold the seats flat.

Buy one and you’ll love it — it’s the B’s knees.
