The Batmobile, DeLorean and the Harry Potter Ford Anglia: The most expensive movie car to insure….and why
High-profile stunts and dangerous jobs mean that the most famous movie cars would command quite the insurance premium
CAR chases, explosions, dangerous jobs and time travel are an insurer's nightmare.
So it's just as well brokers don't have to worry about providing cover for the world's most famous movie cars.
To mark the launch of The Last Knight - the latest movie in the Transformers franchise - insurance provider 1st Central has run the rule over some of cinema's biggest motoring names.
And while insurance premiums have gone up by 15 per cent in the last year, these are a little bit higher than your normal motor.
Taking into account age, profession, modifications and type of use - just like any normal policy - experts have come up with some eye-watering quotes.
Topping the charts is star of the new Transformers movie Optimus Prime.
Based on a Peterbilt 379 that dates back to the 1980s, Prime commands an annual premium of £1million thanks to a history of high-speed collisions, containing a weapon as well as travelling to outer space on a regular basis.
In contrast, his Autobot pal Bumblebee - based on a Chevrolet Camaro - is a relatively good risk to insurers and is only eighth on the list with a premium of £10,000.
Bruce Wayne is not short of a few quid so he'll be able to foot the £750,000 bill for the Batmobile - although that depends what guise its taking having been through a fair few models during the years.

Also making the list are Doc Brown's time-travelling DeLorean from Back to the Future which racks up a £60,000 quote thanks to its regular 88mph speed limit-breaking sprints and unconventional fuel.
The Ford Anglia from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets also features for its ability to fly and a rather unfortunate incident history with trees.
Maybe surprisingly, James Bond doesn't feature despite his love of expensive cars and high-speed chases.
In fact as an employer of the Crown, 007 doesn't need to get insurance as the government covers the costs of his dangerous driving.
Andy James, UK CEO at 1st Central, said: "A lot of factors are taken into consideration when deciding the appropriate price for an insurance risk, and with the Autobots consistently in the thick of the action, we would expect the insurance risk to be fairly high.
“Finding the price of insurance risk for famous movie cars is actually a great training exercise for our staff to consider all the implications of insuring such mechanical movie stars, I would however like to make it clear that these prices are not guaranteed."
