Football parking guide – cheapest spaces and quickest ways to get to Premier League grounds this season revealed

Should you park at the ground, can you walk from the local car park and is there free on-street parking? Our guide reveals everything you need to know

THE Premier League season has kicked off, with millions of hopeful football fans now facing the often gruelling prospect of travelling to games up and down the country.

Many will use public transport to get to home games while clubs will provide away day coaches - but what if you're planning to drive to the match?

Plenty of fans want the luxury of a car on matchday and if you're making a long journey from the south coast up to the north, it's much cheaper than the train.

The tricky part is knowing where to leave your motor during the game.

We've compiled this handy guide for all 20 Premier League grounds with the official club guidance, a bit of local advice and the cheapest option for a pre-booked bay.

Some newer stadiums provide official parking on site while others have several local lots within walking distance.

But at some grounds it's not as convenient - and leaving it in a side street nearby will almost certainly land you with a hefty fine.

Add all this up and parking can soon be almost as much as a ticket to the game itself.

It's also worth noting that even if a ground does offer parking for a reasonable rate it still might not be the best option.

Getting too close to a stadium will mean you're disrupted by matchday road closures and traffic jams on arrival - and when trying to leave after.

One option is to use a tool - like YourParkingSpace.co.uk - to pre-book a space that's owned by a local and available on the day.

These can be within just 15 minutes walk from the ground and much cheaper than an official car park.
