It's a record low price for a fully-restored classic Lamborghini but not all is as it seems with this Italian model

WOULD you plough your cash into this classic Lamborghini?

Up for auction for just £15,000, it’s not your standard Italian supercar but rather a 1960s TRACTOR.

Lamborghini 1R tractor is set to sell for £15,000

The 1966 Lamborghini 1R was built at the same time Lamborghini was selling the Miura – regarded as the world’s first supercar.

And while the Miura packs 300bhp and has a top speed of 170mph, the tractor has a twin-cylinder diesel engine which produces just 32bhp.

The rare tractor is due to be auctioned off with a guide price of £15,000 – some way short of the near £1million that some Miura supercars have sold for.

Yet the tractor – described as being in “truly remarkable condition” – is more of a heritage car than any supercar from the Italian manufacturer.

Lamborghini started out as an industrial manufacturer well before it begun to churn out classics like the Countach, Gallardo or Diablo.

It only turned its attention to sports cars when wealthy company boss Ferruccio Lamborghini was refused a Ferrari.

Engine produces just 32bhp – some way short of Lamborghini supercars

Tractor was made in the same year as firm was selling 170mph Lamborghini Miura

And although the Italian firm sold 3,500 supercars last year – including the £150,000 Huracan – it continues to make tractors, too.

This model has had a top to bottom, nut and bolt restoration completed by Ermes Formilan in Italy, a world-renowned restorer of Lamborghini tractors.

Largely original and correct, the 1R comes with its original Italian registration showing it was manufactured on July 7 1966.
