Volkswagen diesel scrappage scheme launched with £10,000 off the price of an all-electric e-Golf – plus discounts on Audi, Skoda and SEAT
VOLKSWAGEN will cut £10,000 off the price of an all-electric e-Golf as it launches a diesel scrappage scheme today.
Other discounts include £4,000 off a regular petrol or diesel Golf, £2,800 off a new Polo and £4,000 off a Tiguan.
Any pre-2010 diesel vehicle that has been owned by a customer for at least six months can be traded-in for a new Euro 6 model until December 31.
It applies to any diesel vehicle that has emissions standards lower than Euro 5 and was registered before 2010.
Alison Jones, of VW UK, said: “All trade-in vehicles will be scrapped.”
The £10,000 discount on the e-Golf is the biggest incentive and reduces the list price from £32,000 to £22,000.
It combines the £4,500 Government grant for electric cars with £5,500 from VW.
The bottom end of the range is £1,800 off a new VW Up! rising to £6,000 off a Sharan people carrier.

Audi, Seat, Skoda and VW vans - all firms owned by the VW Group - are launching similar scrappage schemes.
Rivals BMW, Mercedes, Hyundai, Vauxhall and Ford have also brought in schemes in the last month offering incentives to buy new, clean cars and replace older, dirtier models.
Toyota also announced it would be offering up to £4,000 of a new model from September 1, too.
The diesel scrappage scheme was originally proposed by the government as a way to encourage diesel drivers to switch to a more environmentally friendly car.
Diesel drivers faced a bevy of congestion charges, extra parking fees and higher fuel tax to make up for their higher emissions.
But the government didn't ever being the policy in prompting car manufacturers to take matters into their own hands.
