Mercedes Project One 1,000bhp hypercar concept revealed – and £2million model could be Lewis Hamilton’s next company car

The wild concept has engine taken straight from a F1 car and previews 2019 production model that will have top speed of over 217mph

THE mind-blowing Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar has arrived - and it brings F1 to your driveway.

The 1,000bhp concept previews a production car due for release in 2019 that you can pick up for a cool £2million.

The tech is ripped straight out the back of Lewis Hamilton's title winning F1 car - but it's totally road legal and will take on the Aston Martin Valkyrie.

The two-seater hybrid has a top speed of over 217mph and will race from 0-124mph in six seconds.

Even Hamilton might have trouble controlling that on the way into the office on wet Monday morning.

Four electric motors are twinned with a 1.6-litre V6 petrol engine to produce the Project One's staggering power.

And you won't hit the red line on the rev counter until a barely believable 11,000rpm.

The fact it's a plug-in hybrid means despite all that power, you can pop to the shops or drop the kids off on silent, pure electric, zero-emission power for 15 miles.

If we're honest, though, anyone who's got the cash for the Project One is heading straight to the track to unleash the full power of the F1 engine.

The circuit is where the race-inspired AMG model will really shine with every inch of carbon fibre and metalwork been designed for performance.

There are no touches of flair you might see on regular Mercedes models - the spoiler, diffusers, air intakes and headlights are all designed to make the car stick like glue to the track.

The cabin is stripped back as well with a bare-bones carbon fibre dashboard, two bucket seats, a square F1-inspired steering wheel and two 10-inch digital readouts.

Just 275 of the models - all left hand drive - will be made with first deliveries expected at the start of 2019.

And despite the hefty price tag, Mercedes report that the first run is entirely sold out already.
