Rezvani Tank is world’s most extreme family SUV – complete with bulletproof glass and ballistic armour
This "tactical urban vehicle" is tough enough for almost any terrain. But it's most suited to a war zone than the high street
IF you’re planning on driving through an active war zone on your way to pick up the kids from school, the Rezvani Tank is the car for you.
The small American manufacturer has released their latest creation – a “street-legal Extreme Utility Vehicle”.
Looking like a cross between a Hummer, Nissan Patrol and a military tank, it is just about the most intense SUV on the market, and is being referred to as a “tactical urban vehicle”.
But some of its features are rather unnecessary – particularly in an “urban” setting.
While its size and style would make you the envy of the school pick-up, its suicide doors, thermal night vision systems and “optional ballistic armour protection” probably aren’t the first features prospective new SUV customers look for.
And if you really want to turn your school runner into the ultimate protection vehicle, Rezvani gives you the option of adding a kevlar fuel tank, military grade run-flat tyres and bulletproof glass as extras.
But aside from its overkill in the urban setting, as an off-road vehicle it has a lot to offer.
Fitted with a 6.4-litre V6 turbo engine, it certainly has the power to back up its tough exterior, and gives buyers the options of a lift and upgraded axles to allow them to tackle the most brutal terrain.
The Tank also features an 8-inch infotainment display, navigation, internet, and hand stitched leather seats.
Unfortunately, it is unlikely to reach UK shores, but with a price point of $178,000 (£135,000), that’s probably for the best.
