Mercedes AMG GT C Roadster review: Drop top V8 has 196mph top speed but you’ll need £140,000 to get your hands on this beauty
The GT C races from 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds - just enough time to fall in love with the German convertible. It's just a shame it's out of the budgets of most humble motorists
THERE’S a theory that if you fancy someone, you should talk to them within three seconds of meeting.
Take any longer and you could spoil your chances by revealing any flaws you have.
It might be true. The Mercedes AMG GT C Roadster accelerates from 0-62 in 3.7 seconds.
But I had proposed to her before we had even reached 40mph and she seemed to reciprocate with a shriek of joy from her monstrous V8 lungs.
She clearly hadn’t noticed my ludicrous grin and the three double chins caused by burying my neck into the headrest.
To describe my feelings for this car as “true love” doesn’t do justice to its intoxicating spell.
I think its four-litre twin turbo V8 is the most joyful engine I have ever encountered.
There’s no hint of lag as it pushes through the seven-speed box.
Two induction units help the GT C achieve 549bhp and 680Nm of torque – that’s why it boasts an agressive 0-62 figure and a top speed of 196mph.
The AMG GT family is varied.
The GT is the entry level, the GT S comes with a dollop more power and GT R is the track-ready version.
The GT C is more potent than the standard model and comes with a drop top.
It’s the sort of car you drive with roof down in January.
Then there’s the looks.

The only problem with this car?
On my wage her dad wouldn’t give me his blessing.
