Richard Hammond crash footage shows The Grand Tour presenter screaming ‘C**P’ as Rimac Concept One flips and rolls down hill
THIS is the heartstopping moment Richard Hammond screams “c**p!” as he smashes a £2million supercar.
The former Top Gear host, filming for The Grand Tour in Switzerland, slid off the road and rolled down a grassy verge.
The 47-year-old cheated death when he was pulled from the burning wreckage of the Rimac Concept One electric car in June.
The final moments before the horror crash can be heard as Hammond’s mic was still on following a time-trial race in St Gallen.
The host, nicknamed Hamster, shouts “c**p” as the car ploughs into the barrier.
The audio has been revealed as The Grand Tour returns to Amazon Prime today for its second series.
It captures the chilling sound of the car rolling over repeatedly as it bursts into flames. The footage emerged online at the time.
Later in the show, co-hosts Jeremy Clarkson, 57, and James May, 54, mock Hammond for not being able to drive around corners “or straight lines.”
The presenter previously suffered another horror crash, nearly dying in a 288mph smash in 2006 that put him in a coma for two weeks.
This time Richard was conscious when he was rescued after managing to wriggle from the car.
He was airlifted to hospital and had .
A source said of the crash: “It was like something in a film.
“Had he been in the car when it burst into flames he probably wouldn’t be here.”
Clarkson, who had described it as the “biggest crash I’ve ever seen”, said the Croatian-built hypercar burned for five days after the horror crash.
Dad-of-two Hammond — who paid himself £2.5million when he left the Beeb with Jezza and May — said sorry to his family as he recovered in hospital.
He said: “Most importantly, sorry to my wife Mindy and my daughters Izzy and Willow. I’m sorry for being such a colossal idiot”.
The first episode of the new Grand Tour series went live on on Friday morning.
