The most creative, weird and downright idiotic parkers crowned in Twitter competition

Britain is in the middle of a parking bay shortage, so motorists have come up with their own bizarre solutions to combat the problem

IF there is one thing Brits can't stand, it's poor parkers - especially considering the apparent shortage of spaces right across the country.

But what drives most of us nuts can sometimes be seen as pure creativity by the perpetrators of these crimes against Britain's parking bays.

Research by car retailer Peter Vardy found more than a quarter of motorists in the UK admitted to creating their own car park.

This prompted a Twitter competition to find the most "creative"; parking solution users could find.

From roundabouts to trolley shelters, and even halfway up a wall, some motorists really took solving their parking problem to another level.

Hamish Livingston, digital manager at , said: “A lot of places in the UK are quite historic, so it’s feasible that a lot of the city centres have limited space as often they’ve been designed back when there weren’t many (or any) cars on the road.

“Locations that have introduced means to reduce congestion have also had the effect of freeing up some car park spaces, but people are still claiming they need to create their own spaces due to lack of availability.

“Our competition gained some interesting entries - proof that it is an issue many of us face in daily driving life”.
