Car rental company DriiveMe gives you 24-hour hire from just £1 – but there’s a catch

Drivers simply have to pay for fuel and tolls - but customers are slightly restricted in where they can drive

A CAR hire company is giving Brits the chance to drive across the country from as little as £1.

Motorists just need to pay the cost of their fuel and any tolls they pass during their journey on top of the tiny fee - but there's a catch.

While hire prices are certainly a bargain, its customers are slightly restricted in where they can go.

Motorists must stick to pre-determined routes and drive during dates set out on the company's website.

This is because DriiveMe isn't an ordinary car rental company.

They offer a kind of relocation service for other vehicle hire companies to help them balance their fleet and move certain models to other parts of the country.

Instead of using expensive transporter trucks, DriiveMe facilitates the relocation by letting ordinary people make use of the same journey.

This means the car gets to where it needs to be, and motorists get a cheap cross-country trip.

Conveniently, as car hire companies are often based at airport locations, the majority of the set routes start and finish at major airports - meaning it's the perfect way to travel to or from your next holiday.

The company recently added 21 new routes to its network, making 35 in total.

Drivers can make £1 trips from places like Newcastle to Manchester, Cardiff to Birmingham and Bristol to London.

Trevor Lambert, DriiveMe’s UK Country Manager comments, “The response that DriiveMe has had in just four months has been fantastic, with happy Driivers able to get to where they need to go for a fraction of the usual cost.

“I’m thrilled we can now bring DriiveMe’s £1 car rentals to more people than ever before, so just about no matter where you live in the UK, you can rent a car for less than you pay for your morning coffee.”
