GOODWOOD Revival festival’s final day saw the action move into fifth gear – but some of the racing drivers looked a little young to be behind the wheel.
Scores of kids took to the track before leaping into miniature, pedal-powered classic motors to begin a hair-raising race between pint-sized drivers.
The children, dressed in tan or white protective overalls, were taking part in Sunday’s competition – the Settrington Cup.
Proud parents lined the track, cameras at the ready as their kids began pedalling furiously along the West Sussex track.
The event has become one of Goodwood’s favourites over the years, with some mums and dads spending a fortune to spruce up Austin J40 pedal cars.
Toff was sampling the splendid range of vehicles, dressed in period garb alongside a male friend.
The annual festival’s third day opened off the back of Mike Whittaker yesterday claiming the 2018 Whitsun Trophy for pre-1966 unlimited sports cars.
Also in attendance was three-time winner of the Le Mans 24-Hour Andre Lotterer. He drove an Alfa Romeo 1600 GTA in one race (coming ninth) and an AC Cobra in the RAC TT Celebration race today.
Mr Lotterer could not contain the joy he felt being at Goodwood.
He said: “There is such a fantastic atmosphere and I love that everyone dresses up. For three days you live here in this fantastic world.
“It will be hard to get back to reality.”
On sale for an eye-watering £1.3m was a 1964 Shelby Cobra heading up the Bonhams sale.
Alongside the Cobra was a UK numberplate reading ‘RR1’, fetching a whopping £460,000. It will now adorn its new owner’s Rolls-Royce.
