Unlucky driver ends up sinking car in the middle of a SWIMMING POOL while practising parking

While learning their parking manoeuvres, this unfortunate driver made a simple error which turned to disaster

AN UNLUCKY driver ended a lesson with a splash after their car came to a stop in the middle of a public swimming pool.

A man and woman thought to be in their 60s were inside the vehicle at the time, and managed to escape the unfortunate incident without injury.

The female occupant was allegedly being instructed on how to park when the car jumped the kerb outside North Creek Community Centre Pool in Maryland, USA.

The parking lesson quickly turned into a swimming lesson when the saloon crashed through a fence and plunged into the lap pool.

Pictures taken at the scene show tyre tracks through the grass heading towards the pool, suggesting the car drove off-road for a short time before sticking its dive.

Fortunately, the pool was empty at the time of the incident on Saturday, having been closed for the season.

The car appeared to roll across the grass before breaking through the fence and landing in the pool

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer told The Washington Post the driver and passenger were able to get themselves out of the car and onto dry land.

The pair were standing poolside when emergency crews arrived and were reportedly uninjured - aside from a bruised ego, of course.

The parking mishap certainly isn't the first to be caught on camera.

Earlier this year, we reported some of the most outrageous parking fails, with one car even wedged down a staircase.

And a recent Twitter competition singled out drivers' terrible attempts to find a parking space.
