First look at next-generation Vauxhall Corsa tested at -30C in the Arctic Circle

Fifth-gen Corsa should be able to handle all types of Brit weather

UNDERNEATH this sticky back plastic is the next-gen Vauxhall Corsa.

It has been tuned and tested for durability at -30C in the Arctic Circle and 30C in baking desert heat – so it should be able to handle anything our British weather can throw at it.

Vauxhall is keeping the road-ready car under wraps until June – but here’s what we know already:

  • The fifth-gen Corsa is ten per cent lighter than the current car, so it’ll be more efficient and handle better. The lightest model will tip the scales at just 980kg. That’s light.
  • It shares the same petrol engines and innards as the new Peugeot 208. As you’d expect now French giant Groupe PSA owns Vauxhall too.
  • There’s an all-electric Corsa coming too, with a 50kWh battery, so it should be good for around 190 miles per charge.
  • British designer Mark Adams said: “Everyone that’s seen it has said, ‘Wow, I wasn’t expecting that’.”

Let’s hope he’s right. In showrooms in November.
