A breakdown by InsuretheGap.com revealed Newcastle as the best place to find a space, with local motorists only spending £3.20 got two hours parking.

Each city was ranked on the number of parking spaces per resident, walking distance to the city centre and the average price of two hours parking.

Leicester is another city with plenty of available car parks, with 2.3 spaces for every 100 drivers.

Motorists in Belfast also have no problem finding a park, with 3.8 spaces for every 100 drivers in the Northern Ireland capital.

Despite having limited spaces, Bradford ranked high on the list due to the proximity between car parks and the city centre.

Unsurprisingly, London is the worst place to try and find a park, with the capital slammed for its lack of available spaces.

And parking in the capital is up there with the most expensive in the UK, with an average price of £11.25 for two hours.
