The Alaska Airlines flight had been heading to Los Angeles from John F Kennedy International Airport in New York on Wednesday.

But with the passenger becoming more and more aggressive the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing in Kansas City.

It is alleged he threatened to kill the pilot and beat up another passenger.

Police then boarded the plane to arrest the man, who has not been named.

reported that the man had initially flown into a rage while queuing for the loo.

He can be heard shouting:  “You wrong. By making seven people wait here to use the bathroom, while the whole bathroom up there is empty, it’s wrong.

“They rather let the bathroom be empty up there and let eight people wait in line to use the bathroom while two bathrooms are empty in the front."

Then he is heard yelling: “He’s going to come to me telling me he’ll call the police – call the motherf***ing police.”

Raging airline passenger

But it did not stop there.

Speaking to CBS2, one passenger alleged: “He said he was going to kill the pilot, he was going to beat people up.”

Another said: “I don’t know if he was on something or what, but he just went from night to day.”

In the clip the captain addressed passengers over the loudspeaker, saying “I understand there’s a gentleman in the aisle making kind of a fuss”.

People cheered as police came on board in Kansas City and hauled him away to jail.

The flight eventually landed in Los Angeles – four hours late.

The airline said the passenger threatened crew members and the aircraft's safety.

Federal officials interviewed crew members and continue to investigate the incident.

No further details were immediately available.
