Boris Johnson called the Queen to apologise after damning Supreme Court ruling
BORIS Johnson called the Queen to apologise for embarrassing her with the damning Supreme Court ruling last week, it's been revealed.
The PM got on the phone to Her Majesty within hours of the verdict.
Last week the Prime Minister was rocked by the stunning judgement which ruled his shutdown of Parliament - and the advice he gave to the Queen - was unlawful.
A No 10 source confirmed to The Sunday Times: “He got on to the Queen as quickly as possible to say how sorry he was.”
Boris attempted to close Parliament for several weeks for the party to have their conferences and then to have a Queen's Speech.
But MPs went back on Wednesday after the ruling sent shockwaves through Westminster.
And the saga has thrown relations with the palace into chaos, the paper reported.
A Whitehall source said: “They are not impressed by what is going on — at the very highest levels of the family.”
One royal source confirmed that the Queen’s senior advisers are “fed up”.
A palace official revealed that the prime minister is now as distrusted as David Cameron - who got into hot water this month by revealing some of his private chats with her Majesty.
“It’s difficult to tell which of them they are crosser with, Cameron or Boris,” the source said.
But despite the embarrassment, Boris has refused to rule out trying to shut down Parliament again.
The court did not say it was wrong to do so, but ruled that there was no justification for the length of time.
The PM has insisted he still wants a Queen's Speech to try and push ahead with his domestic agenda on the NHS, police and schools.
Today he announced the Tories would refurbish 40 crumbling hospitals with a £13billion rescue package in the coming years.
