Taxi driver shocked as a GOOSE smashes through his cab’s window

The brazen bird crash-landed on the back seat of the green Hackney cab as it drove between jobs in Dunkirk, Nottingham.

But then surrounded with glass, the stunned Canada Goose perched calmly on the back seat appearing to wait for a ride before police arrived.

Cabbie Nayyar Tabasam, said: “I was dropping a passenger off at the University and was on my way back to town. I was driving along and all of a sudden there was this big crashing sound, which was my back window.

“I thought somebody had thrown something at the car for a start so I slowed down to see if I could see anyone around but there was no-one.

“I then stopped and took a look in the back, where the glass from the window was, and I saw this big bird in my car.

“Of course it was a shock at the time, I didn’t see anything as the goose was coming from the side and it made a lot of noise.

“A friend and I made a call to the police, who advised us on taking the goose to the vets, and just after this a couple of officers passing by came over, helped and reassured us which was great.”

Nottinghamshire Police swooped on the freak crash scene on Sunday afternoon and alerted local vets.

PCSO Lucy Oram on the Radford Road team said: “When a colleague asked if a call had been received about a goose flying into a taxi, we had to see it to believe it.

“The goose was taken to the vets and unfortunately the taxi had to repair the damage.”

The goose is now recovering at a local PDSA vets.
