Missing nurse, 23, found dead in river after disappearing in hospital scrubs following night shift
A YOUNG nurse has been found dead in a river today after she disappeared following a hospital night shift.
Laurie Jones, 23, was spotted leaving University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

But the alarm was raised when she failed to return to her home 17 miles away - and was reported missing by her worried family.
Laurie was still wearing her work scrubs as she left the biggest hospital in Wales for the drive home to Pontllanfraith, Caerphilly, at 1.40am on Tuesday.
Police have this afternoon confirmed the woman dead in a car in a river is Laurie.
HEARTBREAKING FIND
The tragic discovery was made just a mile from the nurse's home.
Motorists said the road where the woman's car entered the river - the B4251 in Wyllie, near Pontllanfraith - was notoriously dangerous and driving conditions were poor.
Officers said they are not treating her death as suspicious.
A Gwent Police spokesperson said: "Laurie’s family would like to thank everyone for their kind words and support, and for sharing the appeal to help find Laurie when she was reported as missing.
"Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Laurie Jones at this tragic time."

Laurie's sister, Esme, thanked friends for sharing the appeal to find her, but later said: "Thank you for all the shares not the best news unfortunately."
Police described Laurie as white, of medium build with long brown hair and wearing glasses.
A spokesman said: "Laurie was last seen wearing blue nurses scrubs and black shoes and a blue NHS hooded top. She was also carrying a pink rucksack and pink water bottle."
