Brexit Budget: Sajid Javid announces Budget six days after Halloween Brexit deadline
BRITAIN's first Brexit Budget will take place on November 6 - after the country is scheduled to be out of the European Union.
Sajid Javid revealed this morning he is planning to reveal his plans to shape the country's economy in just five weeks time as part of Boris Johnson's plans to get ready for an election.
He said this morning: "This will be the first Budget after leaving the EU. I will be setting out our plan to shape the economy for the future and triggering the start of our infrastructure revolution," Mr Javid said.
"This is the right and responsible thing to do - we must get on with governing."
It is set to include a handful of election giveaways to woo over voters ahead of an expected early vote.
The PM has already promised more cash for the NHS, schools and police.
Today's Queen's Speech will include 22 more eye-catching policies to win over the electorate, including:
- Plans for criminals who return to the UK to face heavier penalties
- Violent and sexual offenders will serve at least two thirds of their sentence before being able to be released
- Maximum sentences for foreign nationals who breach a deportation order will be dramatically increased from 6 months
The planned Budget date is slightly earlier than usual - most are held in late November or early December.
The Chancellor has said if we do leave the EU without a deal he could hold an emergency budget too.
This would mean he had the time to implement emergency measures to boost Britain's economy.
But Government sources indicated they would act immediately and would hold a Budget in the weeks afterwards.
