One-month-old boy critical after being beaten by evil mum who then left him seriously hurt while she went on a date
A ONE-MONTH-OLD boy has been left in a serious condition in Ukraine after allegedly being beaten by his own mother.
Baby Mykyta was discovered by neighbours in the western city of Rivne after his mother, 19, reportedly left him alone so she could go on a date.
He was rushed to hospital, where he was placed in intensive care.
Medics said Mykyta is thought to have fractures to his skull, but that they have been unable to examine him fully due to his condition.
Local media reported that the baby boy lived with his mother, who has not been named, in a social hostel.
He was found on October 15 by neighbours who decided to check on him after realising he was alone in the room and that his mother had been out all day.
Tetiana Prymak, who lives in the hostel, said: ”When we entered the room we saw Mykyta in his crib.
”His right eye was black. His nose was blocked with baked blood and he was barely breathing.
”We started changing his clothes and saw black bruises all over his body.”
She added that another woman fainted after seeing the condition in which Mykyta had been left.
The neighbours promptly called an ambulance and the police.
LIFE-THREATENING CONDITION
Mykyta’s mother returned to the hostel this morning and was taken into police custody.
Mykhailo Kulik, the head of the intensive care unit of Rivne Regional Children’s Hospital, said: ”The boy is in a serious life-threatening condition.
“We suspect that his skull is fractured but we cannot examine it now.
”I have never seen a baby in such a terribly neglected state.
“I think his mother has never changed his clothes nor used diapers.
“His skin is in awful condition.”
Police have now launched a criminal case for battery and failure to fulfil parental duties.
BABY ‘BRUTALLY BEATEN UP’
Social service psychologist Yulia Tkachenko said that Mykyta’s mother had claimed his injuries had been caused by a “cold draft” but that there was “no doubt the baby was brutally beaten up”.
Police spokesman Anton Kruk said: ”The mother said that she was stressed out because of the baby’s constant crying.
“She left the baby home alone and went on a date.”
The head of the social hostel confirmed that Mykyta’s mother had another son who is three years old and had already been taken into care.
Head of Rivne Child Protection Service Andriy Mishchenia said: ”The mother is going to be deprived of parental rights.
“The baby boy will be taken away from her and placed into an orphanage.”
Local media reported that the two boys had different fathers and that Mykyta’s father, 27, was not interested in his care.
Social services are now building a case against the mother.
She faces up to five years in prison.
