Serial killer Levi Bellfield found injured in apparent suicide attempt at top-security HMP Frankland
SERIAL killer Levi Bellfield has been injured in an apparent suicide attempt, The Sun on Sunday can reveal.
Bellfield, caged for three murders including that of schoolgirl Milly Dowler, was “minutes from death” when prison staff found him on Friday evening.
Sources said Bellfield, 51, was found badly hurt in his cell but medics were quickly called to tend to him.
A source said: “He was minutes from death — if the prison officers hadn’t been on hand so swiftly, he would have died.”
The ex-nightclub bouncer, one of around 50 whole-life sentence cons in the UK, is now under 24-hour watch at top security Frankland Prison in County Durham.
It comes after last Sunday’s murder of paedo Richard Huckle at Full Sutton jail in East Yorkshire and raises questions about how cons are supervised.

He went on to kill two more victims — Marsha McDonnell 19, and Amelie Delagrange, 22 — with a hammer.
The Ministry of Justice did not comment.
