Mum accused of smuggling drugs to her prison lover in their eight-month-old baby’s nappy

A MUM has been arrested on suspicion of smuggling drugs to her prisoner lover in their son’s nappy.

Jail officers pounced after the dad pulled out a small parcel while holding the eight-month-old tot for a cuddle.

The package is believed to have contained synthetic cannabis Spice.

The pair were separated and held until cops arrived at HMP Thamesmead, South East London.

Sniffer dogs then found two more wraps tucked inside the nappy.

A source told The Sun: “The innocent tot is believed to have been used as a drugs mule.”

The mum was released pending further investigation. Her partner is likely to face sanctions.

Craig Thomson, director at the jail run by private firm Serco, said: “Our officers became suspicious so they intervened, stopped the visit and found one package of drugs hidden on the baby.

"Our drug dog then indicated that there were more drugs. We are proud of the vigilance of our officers.”

The Met Police confirmed that a 26-year-old woman had been arrested after officers were called to the jail earlier this month.
