Alleged rapist ‘carried out sex attacks on 11 women and children aged from 11 to 71 over three days’
A “DEPRAVED rapist” carried out sex attacks on 11 women and kids over three days, a court has heard.
Joseph McCann, 34, is said to have kidnapped and abused victims aged from 11 to 71.
A jury was told his spree started in Hertfordshire then continued in London and the North West earlier this year.
They heard that McCann snatched his first victim, aged 21, at knifepoint after she left a nightclub in Watford.
John Price QC, prosecuting, told the Old Bailey she was forced into a Ford Mondeo in the early hours of April 21 then raped at her home.
Just after midnight on April 25, McCann allegedly struck in Walthamstow, East London, dragging a woman, 25, into his car as she walked home.
Mr Price said she was raped “many times” and subjected to “shocking depravity and violence”. At one point McCann is said to have raped her outside a school.
At midday on the same day, while still holding his first victim, McCann allegedly abducted a woman, 21, in Edgware, North London.
Jurors were shown CCTV footage of her being bundled into a Ford S Max car, while her younger sister got away.
It is said she was raped during a 14-hour ordeal.
FAMILY 'HELD PRISONER'
They eventually escaped by smashing him over the head with a vodka bottle, the court heard.
McCann threatened to dump the 25-year-old in the canal to wash his DNA off her body and warned her “not to make any trouble or he would slit her throat”, it is claimed.
Jurors were told the sister wrestled him and begged for mercy when he grabbed her in Edgware.
After committing a string of violent sexual attacks and kidnappings in London, McCann travelled north to Lancashire, the Old Bailey jury was told.
Over 12 hours on May 5 he is said to have struck again. The court heard that in the early hours he met a mum-of-two in a bar before going back to her house in a taxi.
Over the next several hours family and friends entered and left the family home until it was just McCann, the mother, and her two children.
John Price QC, prosecuting, told the jury how he held the family "prisoner in their home," raping the teenage daughter, 17, and her younger brother, 11, in front of each other while their mother was bound to a bed in another room.
Later that same day, at around 1.30pm McCann travelled to a Morrisons supermarket, the court heard.
'SHOCKING AND DEPRAVED' SEX ATTACKS
There he kidnapped a 71-year-old woman in the car park by threatening her at knifepoint before forcing her to drive him to his next victim - another teenage girl, the court was told.
The pensioner was subjected to "gross sexual indignity and violence" during the journey, the jury heard.
He raped the OAP and sexually assaulted the girl, 13, before both escaped at Knutsford Service Station on the M6, the court heard.
He made off in a Fiat and snatched two girls, 14, in Congleton, Cheshire, it is said.
He is accused of embarking on a series of "shocking and depraved" sex attacks on women and children in the London and Greater Manchester areas.
McCann is accused of 37 charges including multiple rapes, kidnap and false imprisonment involving 11 victims, aged between 11 and 71, over three days in April and May.
He is said to have carried out the attacks in Cheshire, Manchester, Lancashire, London and Hertfordshire between April 20 and May 5.
McCann was arrested following a nationwide manhunt on May 6 after a stand-off between police just outside the Cheshire town of Congleton where he was found up a tree.
