Man, 27, charged with trying to kill suspect accused of stabbing mum-of-two, 25, to death
A MAN has today been charged with trying to kill a suspect accused of stabbing a mum-of-two to death.
Jake Swords, 27, from Rushden, Northants, is due to appear before Northampton magistrates this morning.
He was arrested after the woman he was with, Levi Davis, 25, was knifed on Saturday night.
Levi was attacked after the black VW Polo she was travelling in was involved in a collision with a white Vauxhall van.
Local residents rushed to her aid, but she was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at around 8.30pm.
POLICE GUARD
A 27-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murdering Levi is under police guard in hospital.
Detectives arrested a 13-year-old boy at the same time but he was freed later with no further action to be taken.
All the people involved knew each other and it was "not a random attack", police said.
Witnesses claimed Miss Davis had been trying to break up a fight between the two 27-year-old men when she was stabbed.
A pal, who didn't want to be named, said: "What I've been told is two lads were getting into a stabby fight.
The people involved all knew each other and it was not a random attack. They had some sort of dispute.
Superintendent Dennis Murray
"She tried to get in the middle and she got stabbed.
"It's awful that she died like this. I can't say any more but everyone who knew her is absolutely gutted."
Another friend said: "She was a wonderful mum and a one-in-a-million person. I haven't stopped crying since I heard. It's just awful and I feel so sorry for her two little girls."
"KNOWN TO EACH OTHER"
Superintendent Dennis Murray, of Northants Police, said: "We believe the perpetrators appear to be known to each other. One of the vehicles was a black Volkswagen Polo. The other was a white Vauxhall van.
"We believe she was a passenger. We don't know if she was driving. We are trying to find out what these vehicles were doing.
"Those two cars had an altercation before they came to a stop.
