Brit gran will spend Christmas in jail after smuggling three Albanian migrants in the boot of her car
A BRITISH gran will spend Christmas in jail after being caught people trafficking in France.
Jackie Willis tried to drive on to a UK-bound train with three Albanians in the boot.
A trafficker had approached her and offered her £3,000 to take the migrants from Calais to Dover on the Eurotunnel.
Willis, 53, a senior manager at catering giants Aramark, was nicked three weeks ago and has been in custody since.
She wept in court in Boulogne as she was jailed for six months. Her lawyer Isabelle Pauwels said: “It’s sad for her because she will spend Christmas in jail. She won’t see her family.
“She has a decent job but she was tempted by easy money. She regrets bitterly what she did and pleaded guilty at the first opportunity. Her family were in court to support her and see her cry.”
Prosecutor Pascal Marconville said Willis “will not be the last” Brit recruited by traffickers.
Willis, of Feltham, West London, could have faced ten years’ jail. She will serve her sentence in Lille and be barred from France for two years on release.
