What is Twixmas?

For those who have heard of Twixmas, perhaps first thought it had something to do with the famous chocolate bar, Twix.

You may well be consuming some during that time, but the actual word has nothing to do with the confectionery.

In fact, Twixmas is actually the word given to the days between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, where one can either spend it kicking back and doing absolutely nothing, or perhaps visiting family and friends.

Either way, it is a period post-Christmas whilst also waiting to usher in the new year and in this case, a new decade.

So, once Christmas Day has been and gone, demolished all the leftovers in the fridge on Boxing Day morning and watching all the festive films imaginable, you indulge in Twixmas.

When is Twixmas?

This unique period of the year we call Twixtmas begins on the 27th December and ends one day before New Year’s Eve on the 30th December.

This is probably the only time throughout the year that it is considered acceptable to laze about all day and binge watch everything on Netflix.

It’s also a very important time of year, where you can recharge and not have to think about the stress and pressures of life, even if just for a few days.

There may also be a chance you may receive some late Christmas presents form family and friends that you did not get the chance to see before the 25th and that’s always a bonus.

But all in all, it’s a time where for once in our lives not much is going on and everyone seems to be just fine with it.
