BEATEN FOR $1

Violent Christmas Eve mugging leaves man, 60, unresponsive and critical as pedestrians, cars and a bus pass him by

A MAN is clinging to life after being savagely beaten during a Christmas Eve mugging that netted the thieves just a single dollar.

The victim, who goes by the name Cuba, was leaving a New York City McDonald’s with his partner on Christmas Eve when he was ambushed and assaulted, cops said.

The attackers reportedly got away with only $1 after leaving the victim unconscious on the street.

The 60-year old victim is seen on surveillance video running from his attackers before he’s grabbed by the shirt and thrown to the pavement.

One of the assailants is seen repeatedly stomping and punching Cuba until he’s left battered and motionless in the street.

Multiple pedestrians, cars and even an MTA bus can be seen passing Cuba’s body without stopping to check on the man lying in the crosswalk.

A friend of the couple, Tony, told he believes the Cuba and his partner were targeted for cash – thought the robbers only got away with $1.
“The guys told them ‘Give me the money, give me the money.’ He was like ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about’,” Tony told the station.

Cuba told his partner to run, then grabbed a trash can to try to hold off his pursuers, Tony said.

Although Cuba’s partner was able to escape, the brutal attack reportedly left him in critical condition.

“Things don’t look too good” for Cuba, who as of Friday was hooked up to a ventilator, unresponsive, with a fractured skull and bleeding from the brain, Tony said.

“It’s just sad that someone would do something so drastic to someone,” he said. “For a dollar! It’s very sad.”
