Anonymous note slams family’s ‘fake and lazy’ Christmas display ‘violation’
AN anonymous critic of Christmas decorations blasted one family's display of holiday spirit as "fake and lazy" in a jaw-dropping note citing their "Christmas Violation(s)."
The family's decorations were excoriated in the anonymous letter left in front of their home on Christmas Eve.
"You have earned this dubious 'award' based on certain Christmas flaws that we need improved as noted above," the letter reads.
"Reflect on your flaws this offseason and correct them for next year."
The sender, identified as the "S&V panel," may be former residents of the neighborhood, as the letter notes the authors "may have moved but we are still evaluating your Christmas efforts!!!!"
The snarky missive cited a "lack of a neat, organized and/or classy Christmas lighting" and "fake and lazy" decorations as the reason for the author's Christmas contempt.
A "complimentary" box of 100 white string lights were left for the family to "jump start your 2020 planning."
Although the mysterious senders likely got a good laugh, with the homeowner saying she wasn't amused by the nasty note.
"It was the rudest and most ignorant award from my neighbors," she told the Courier Post Online.
"I've already had an awful year, so getting this letter hit a nerve."
Not only is the family grieving the loss of a beloved pet, they said they're nursing a sick relative back to health and were recently involved in a car accident.
A topiary bush outside the home adorned in blue string lights was meant to honor her father-in-law's service as an NYPD officer, which, she said, made the note especially jarring.
She said the timing of the delivery was "the most horrible thing" because she was too depressed to decorate.
