President Donald Trump Thursday's rally saw protesters breach the edge of the sprawling embassy complex with signs reading "NO WAR," "MAGA=HATE" and "REMOVE."
But Trump was defiant, saying Soleimani had "ordered the violent assault on the American Embassy in Baghdad."
"And you saw, this was the anti-Benghazi," he declared. "We got there very quickly. This is the exact opposite."
Despite speculation about World War III breaking out as a result of Trump's decision, he said Soleimani's death was justified.
"The radical left Democrats have expressed outrage over the termination of this horrible terrorist," he said at the rust belt rally.
"Instead they should be outraged by Soleimani's savage crimes, and that fact that his countless victims were denied justice for so long."

"Crazy Bernie has condemned the US Military strike on Soleimani – the world's top terrorist," he jeered.
"The world's top terrorist and we're having people like Nancy Pelosi – oh that's a real genius.
"You believe that one? Nancy, Nancy, Nervous Nancy," he added, while his supporters roared at the mention of "fake news."
"They want us to tell them so they can leak it to their friends in the corrupt media," he jeered.
Adam Schiff - who headed up the House impeachment investigation - was also targeted by Trump.
The President of the United States derided him as a "big leaker," even bizarrely calling him "a pencil neck."

"I made a deal. I saved a country," Trump sulked, referencing Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed who won the award in 2019 for reforms and embracing a bitter rival.
Ahead of the rally opened up by Mike Pence, Trump touted his 95 percent Republican approval rating on Twitter.
On Tuesday, he will head to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for his second 2020 rally as Democrats hold their first primary presidential debate of 2020 in Iowa.
Trump previously branded Soleimani a "monster" at a press conference earlier today, saying the US killed him in a drone strike as "retribution."
His comments come a day after he tried to cool tensions following Iran's ballistic missile blitz on Tuesday, which didn't result in any American casualties.
He boasted about America's state-of-the-art hypersonic missile system and powerful military yesterday, warning Iran its days of "terror and murder" are over.
