UNDER PRESSURE

Prince Harry ‘claimed his mental health would be at RISK if he didn’t quit royal life with Meghan Markle’

PRINCE Harry reportedly told senior royals his mental health would be at risk if he was not allowed to quit the Royal Family during crisis talks.

The Duke of Sussex is locked in negotiations with the Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William as they look to work out his exit from the Royal Family in the coming days.

Harry suggested he feared for his mental health if he wasn't allowed to step down from his public role.

The prince, 35, has become a high-profile mental health campaigner in recent years.

He recently worked on a TV documentary about mental health with Oprah Winfrey which will be screened on Apple TV later this year.

He also starred alongside Ed Sheeran in an awareness video for World Mental Health Day.

HARRY'S MENTAL HEALTH STRUGGLES

In 2017, he revealed counselling his late twenties while struggling to come to terms with the death of his mother Princess Diana.

He said: "I can safely say that losing my mum at the age of 12, and therefore shutting down all of my emotions for the last 20 years, has had a quite serious effect on not only my personal life but my work as well.

"I have probably been very close to a complete breakdown on numerous occasions when all sorts of grief and sort of lies and misconceptions and everything are coming to you from every angle.

"My way of dealing with it was sticking my head in the sand, refusing to ever think about my mum, because why would that help?

"Then [I] started to have a few conversations and actually all of a sudden, all of this grief that I have never processed started to come to the forefront and I was like, there is actually a lot of stuff here that I need to deal with."

Harry, 35, is staying in Britain to host the Rugby League World Cup 2021 draw next week.

It's possible he could be out of the Royal Family by the time he leaves Britain, after Buckingham Palace said it wanted the matter settled in "days not weeks".
