US says request to extradite Harry Dunn ‘killer’ Anne Sacoolas is ‘highly inappropriate’
THE US yesterday blasted a “highly inappropriate” UK request to extradite the diplomat’s wife accused of killing teen Harry Dunn.
The Home Office wants Anne Sacoolas, 43, sent here to face a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
The US State Department maintains she had diplomatic immunity at the time of the crash.
A spokesman said the request “would be an abuse under these circumstances”, and “establish an extraordinarily troubling precedent”.
Harry, 19, died last August after his motorbike collided with a car near RAF Croughton, Northants.
Sacoolas, whose husband worked at the base, flew to the US.
UK prosecutors insist diplomatic immunity doesn’t apply to dependants of consular officials based outside London.
The Dunn family have welcomed the request.

Spokesman Radd Seiger yesterday said Sacoolas would “100 per cent be coming back”.
He added: “I have no doubt in my mind, the only thing I can’t tell you is when.
"This lady is accused of taking Harry’s life then fleeing the country. No one is above the law.”
