Laurence Fox says ‘I’m drinking leftist tears’ after trolls called him ‘white privileged male’ in Meghan Markle race row
LAURENCE FOX has taunted trolls who accused him of racism after a Question Time row about Meghan Markle.
The Brit actor, 41, said he was "having the best day of my life drinking leftist tears" - and shared Martin Luther King's famous 'I have a dream' quote.
Fox accused academic Rachel Boyle of 'being racist' after she branded him 'a white privileged male' in last night's BBC clash.
He had insisted the Duchess of Sussex wasn't forced to leave Britain because she's mixed-race, with Ms Boyle blaming racism in media criticism of Meghan.
After being targeted with a wave of online outrage today, the Lewis actor tweeted: "To be clear, I am in no way having the best day of my life ever drinking all these leftist tears.
"My cup it overfloweth. But please don't stop."
'WHITE PRIVILEGED MALE'
He also posted Dr King's legendary 1963 'I have a dream' speech, which was made as black Americans suffered racial segregation and discrimination in southern states.
The iconic civil rights' leader told a huge Washington D.C rally he hoped to live in a country where people 'will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character'.
Above the famous speech extract, Fox posted: "This is the position I took last night and I live by in life.
"If you can improve on it, I'm all ears.
"Or you can keep screeching ''Racist!'' at me and I can carry on having a jolly good giggle at your expense.
"The tide is turning".
During last night's Question Time clash, audience member Ms Boyle accused Fox of being a 'white privileged male'.
Fox groaned and banged his head on the table, claiming Britain is 'the most tolerant, lovely country in Europe'.
He added: "Oh my God. I can't help what I am, I was born like this, it's an immutable characteristic: to call me a white privileged male is to be racist - you're being racist."
RACE ROW
The actor - who used to be married to Billie Piper - continued to hit back at trolls who flooded his Twitter page with abuse today.
One person said he had "appropriated MLK in order to prop up your own white privilege and toxic masculinity".
Another said: "Some people can give a speech... and educate us all. You need to listen, Laurence Fox."
And a third critic told Fox he should "find out some more about white privilege".
But Fox continued to strike back, quipping at one point: "Dear trolls. Water off a ducks back. Happy Friday everyone".
Edge Hill University lecturer Ms Boyle said today she was "not a***d" about the clash and stuck to her guns.
She tweeted: "Fell out with @LozzaFox (not a***d), upset a (majority white) audience (not a***d) but called the treatment of Meghan Markle what it is ''racism''.
"Thank you to @bbcquestiontime for having me."
