Single mum-of-10 accused of having kids for benefits rages she is ‘horribly trolled’
A SINGLE mum-of-ten accused of having kids for benefits has fumed that she is being "horribly trolled".
Sonya O'Loughlin, who gets £400 each week in government handouts, lives in a four-bed council flat in Southampton with eight of her kids.
But the mum - who is appearing on Me & My 10 Kids on 5Star tonight - said life was difficult surviving on benefits.
She moaned how she was being vilified for appearing on the show and blamed documentary makers for twisting the truth.
Sonya said having ten kids was enough and told a pal: "I've still got a little baby and trust me I do not need any more."
She continued: "I wasn't even allowed to watch the documentary before it was released. They didn't even let me see it. I didn't even know when it was going to be on.
"The abuse I've got has just been horrible, everyone just goes on about me being on benefits all the time."
A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, added: "I don't know how they would fit anymore kids in there anyway."
BENEFITS STRUGGLES
Sonya has had ten children with four different fathers.
She said: "I was in a marriage where I thought we'd be together for ever, but obviously we weren't. I'm not having babies for benefits.
"When I fell pregnant with any of them my first thought wasn't 'I'm going to claim some benefits.' My first thought was 'I've got a beautiful baby here'."
Revealing her day-to-day life raising her large brood, the stay-at-home mum said it was difficult to treat them to days out and gifts.
Sonya added: "I go through one box of cereal in two days, so I get four boxes in a week.
"It's hard being on benefits, but my kids do deserve to have a bit more. But then I can't expect to sit on my a*** and let the taxpayers pay for my children.
"My main priority is my rent and then food for the children, so out of £400-a-week I have £150 left to budget for the rest of the week - and that's it."
The mum revealed her kids even get excited by small things, including a new school uniform.
She said: "I don't really do anything with my kids.
"I wouldn't say they miss out as they've never had it to miss it, but it'd be nice to treat them once in a blue moon."
